The Bridgewater Festival of Lights is a nonprofit organization that has been set up to raise money for local charities. It all began in 2001, when Dale Higgins decided to increase his personal display to 35,000 lights. When people began offering donations to help with the display, Dale thought the money should go to charity. Dale being a Lion's member, invited the Lions to participate and keep the donations. A special weekend was set up with Free popcorn, hot chocolate, coffee and other goodies that were given out by the Lions. Santa was there for pictures and the Lions raised almost $1,200. In 2002 the Lights were increased to 100,000 and 2 more village houses. The Lions came in for two weekends and raised over $3,000 for their charities. The cost of the display is paid by sponsors. The main sponsors are Higgins Landscaping Inc. and Doctor Copy (please see complete list of sponsors). We formed a nonprofit organization, Star Light Charities Inc., that runs the Bridgewater Festival of Lights, and continues looking for fund raising opportunities throughout the year. Donations of money, time, or supplies for the festival are greatly appreciated, please reply to the e-mail address on our home page.
